Melody Thornton is an American Pop singer, songwriter, dancer and television personality who rose to stardom as the youngest member of the successful pop group the Pussycat Dolls. Melody definitely has created an enigmatic stage persona from her work in the Pussycat Dolls. At 19-years-old, the Phoenix native joined everyone's favorite girl group after hearing about an open audition on MTV.
Melody got in the car with her mother and sister and drove from Phoenix to Los Angeles. At the open call she won over the audition with her distinctly beautiful and powerful singing voice which up until then, had only performed at local talent shows. An untrained dancer, she was given three months to learn the choreography or fear being permanently replaced.
Hard work paid off and she spent the next six years recording two full-length albums and several world tours performing with the Pussycat Dolls. Her flawless soprano helped carry the group's 2006 Interscope Records debut, PCD, to multi-platinum heights worldwide on singles like mega-hit "Don't Cha" and "Buttons."
They toured the entire world before releasing 2008's Doll Domination and hit the road again—this time with Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Ne-Yo. From all of that experience with the Dolls, Melody crafted an inimitable performance and writing style that fuels her personal endeavors.
Since the band parted ways in early 2010 Melody has had time to focus on her solo career. She is currently hard at work writing and recording, and exploring opportunities in television and film. Melody has been able to find her voice and develop into a multi-faceted artist, sharing with her fans her honest and passionate outlook on life.
Recently, Melody co-starred in E!’s show Bank of Hollywood, produced by Ryan Seascrest, was the on-camera correspondent for TV Guide for the 2010 Grammy Awards, and presented two awards at the 2010 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo.
